Thanks for a Great Season!!

Monday, February 27th, 2012

All those involved with LJW would like to congratulate all our wrestlers for an AWESOME season!!  We believe there is no greater sport for fostering  self awareness, self reliance, and toughness (both mental and physical) than wrestling.  Dan Gable is quoted as saying, “Once you‘ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy.”   All wrestlers can play other sports, same cannot be said the other way around.  After having done a season, you should be able to point out the wreslters in the other sports.  They are the tougher and more technical boys.  Only the toughest kids wrestle!  Your boys, came to practice, put the time in, and wrestled like champs all year.  None of our boys quit this year on the team and on the mat.  We are impressed  the progress the boys made from the first practice to yesterday’s tournament.

Lenape’s success started slow this year, but by the end, no doubt our boys were among the best in the league.  Our wrestlers dominated the Jam and yesterday’s tournament.  I cannot remember a time in my years at Lenape of us ever having the level of success we did yesterday.  Some of the coaches on the other teams were whispering that Lenape is dominating.  What is more impressive were the boys pulling out the close matches, whereas in the beginning of the season, would have been loses.  We were the best team there yesterday and you should all be proud!

We will be having a banquet with trophies and a special gift for all.  Please refer to the website for details to follow.

Thanks for a GREAT season!!!

Montgomery tomorrow is the last event of the season!!!

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Tomorrow is the last event for the Season.  The coaches wish to congratulate all of you on becoming better wrestlers.  Please report to Montgomery high school at your appropriate times for tomorrow’s tournament.  All wrestlers get (EARNED) GET A MEDAL.  Wether your child is successful or not tomorrow, the best you can do is congratulate them on their wonderful season.  As I have stated all year, this is the toughest sport mentally and physically your child will ever play.  It is also, the best sport for individual growth and self reliance.  Surviving a season is a huge accomplishment!!

See you all tomorrow!!  Also, I will be posting later our banquet.  All wrestlers will receive a trophy and a special gift.  NOW lets go kick some behind at Montgomery tomorrow!!!!!

Watch this match of Jordon Olivers

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

I want you to watch this match of Jordon Oliver (2011 NCAA champ, orange).  Please pay attention to how he keeps attacking his opponent, works the head, snaps, and NEVER leaves his stance.  Watch how he breaks his opponent down and keeps him down.  Watch him hit a wrap single and turn the corner.  This is what we preach at practice.  Please have your child watch this 3-times in a row and before Sunday’s tournament.

End of Season Grapevine League Tournament

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Parents & Coaches,

Our last event of the season is the Grapevine League Tournament, Sunday 26th, at Montgomery High School.  This is a low level event where the wrestlers will be put into a 4-man group and wrestle 2 rounds.  Winners of the first round wrestle for first place, losers of the first round wrestle for 3rd place.  ALL WRESTLERS GET A MEDAL!  The groups are determined just like Grapevine matches are determined.  The matches are given a bout number.

I will be registering all wrestlers for this event unless told otherwise.  You MUST let me know by end of Wednesday if you are not planning to attend.  Otherwise, your child must attend.  Roll call is different for different ages.  TIMES:

Thanks for a Great Event Yesterday.

Monday, February 20th, 2012

The Lenape family wishes to thank all of you for making yesterday’s event a HUGE success.  Yesterday was a great experience for those new to the  sport and those who forgot what the sport is about.  While some may have had more success than others, this is an event your child will always remember and be proud of.  Special thanks to:  the high school wrestlers for working the scorers tables all day – along with Carmen Capri, Brian McGovern, and Mr. Gardner.  Thanks to the parents who worked the doors, the 50/50, the t-shirts, and the concessions.  Thanks to all the coaches. A special thanks to Frank Ubaldini, Sandy Schaeffer, and Alycia Bischoff, for which none of it would have been possible.  If I am missing someone, I appologize.  We received an abundance of compliments from other teams on how well run and efficient yesterday was.  Last, I wish to thank all the Lenape parents and wrestlers for putting in a strong showing, competing, and acting honorably.  Thanks to all involved!!

Lenape Jam update

Friday, February 17th, 2012

We will need volunteers to help move the mats and set the tables on Saturday 6:30.  Please help.

Sunday:  6 and under report by 7:45 for 8:00 start.   7&8 report by 10:15.  9& up report 1:00.  This is a silent tournament with bouts posted in the hall and bout numbers scrolling on a tower.  You will stay on the same mat all day.    This is the last event at Lenape and the second to last event for the season.    Thanks.

Volunteers This Weekend

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Parents,  We will need help in multiple areas to make this year’s Jam a success.  Lenape has a reputation for running one of the more efficient and fun tournaments in the state and we need help keeping that reputation in tact.

We will need help with setting up Mats on Saturday @ 6:30.  The high School is pitching in this year, however, we still need some volunteers to help run score tables on Sunday.  Last, there is a big need for volunteers in working concessions.  This tournament keeps our program afloat and allows us to hand out gifts to the boys at the Banquet.    This is the last event we will need volunteers for.  Please help.  Thanks

This week’s match is at Delran again.

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

This week’s match is Saturday 11th at Delran High School yet again.  The new roll call is 3:00 for a 3:30 start.  The teams competing will be Lenape, Galloway, Princeton, and Delran.  The following week is our Jam, Sunday the 19th at home.  Our last event is the league’s end of the season tournament.  We will be traveling to Montgomery again for that.  More updates to come.
